CTP Art Wall

Industrial hall becomes artistic symbol of D1 motorway

The biggest owner of industrial estates in the Czech Republic was struggling with the negative perception the public had towards its properties. Yet we were able to successfully change things with a simple yet effective project: CTP Art Wall. We selected an industrial hall near Humpolec and transformed it into a piece of art displaying the largest mural in Central Europe.

“We combined property development with art and attracted considerable media attention. And we won a prestigious SABRE Award in London in the process.”

Peerless in the Czech Republic

CTP owns some 80 industrial buildings, most of which dominate their surroundings. In pursuing its business interests, the company is governed by the motto: “We serve as a good neighbour to our surroundings”. Our project followed the same guiding principle. It sought to improve the warehouse environment near Humpolec for the locals and drivers passing by on the 90-kilometre point of the D1 motorway.

The project was launched in earnest with the announcement on a dedicated website and social networks of an international competition to find designs. The assignment was to propose a graphic design for an area of 6,500 sqm. From several dozen submissions, a jury selected the winning design. It was put forward by Belgian artist Dzia. The jury’s verdict was announced at a special ceremony. An exhibition, showing the winning design along with other competition submissions, emphasised that the project was peerless in the Czech Republic.

Interest shown by the business and cultural spheres

We built the media presentation of the project around the connection between property development and art and made use of the visual attraction of the outcome. Media across the board reported on the project. Outlets that carried reports ranged from the financial to the culture-oriented. Reports and interviews were broadcast by the main TV stations and the unique project was even picked up by some foreign periodicals.

The project also earned the recognition of experts. CTP Art Wall was successful at the prestigious SABRE Awards organised by The Holmes Report. Up against some 2,400 projects, CTP Art Wall won first prize in the Real Estate & Construction category. The project was also recognised at the Czech PR Awards where it picked up first prize in the Corporate Communications category.
